Socially responsible and sustainable practices
APG strives for a future where prosperity and well-being go hand in hand. As a pension administrator and asset manager, APG takes its social responsibility seriously. To increase our positive impact and reduce potential negative effects, we have embraced four of the United Nations’ globally supported Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and committed to the UN Global Compact. We contribute to poverty reduction, climate change mitigation, equal opportunities for all, and we promote partnerships.
This social commitment is combined with sustainable practices. As a pension administrator, we focus on returns, but also on our contribution to society and sustainability in the broadest sense. Because at its core, pensions are about people, about life and living together.
Sustainability is embedded in everything we do
At APG, we believe that pensions are more than a financial arrangement for the future. They are about people, life, and community. That’s why we look beyond returns alone. We strive for responsible returns – both financial and societal. For us, these go hand in hand.
Our commitment to a sustainable future rests on four pillars. We are building a fair, transparent, and socially responsible pension system, using our knowledge and nearly a century of experience to inform participants and employers. At the same time, we invest responsibly, with attention to people, the environment, and good governance. This contributes to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals.
We also aim to make an impact in the Netherlands. We support the pension funds we work for in investments in energy transition, infrastructure, and housing. This ensures that pension money not only yields returns but also contributes to a livable society. This is where our expertise lies: combining solid financial strategies with societal value.
Sustainability starts with ourselves. We are making our offices more sustainable, reducing our CO₂ emissions, and promoting conscious mobility. We also set high standards for our suppliers and foster an inclusive work culture where everyone feels welcome.
We are part of initiatives such as the Coalition for Sustainable Travel and Diversity in Business, because we believe that caring for people and the planet makes us stronger. This is how we build a future that works – for everyone.
