PPF APG was named Pension Fund of the Year on Tuesday during the Pensioen Pro Awards in Amsterdam. The jury praised the fund’s exemplary role as a frontrunner in the transition to the renewed pension system and its active efforts to share lessons learned with the broader sector.

According to the jury report, APG's company pension fund (PPF) “truly had to reinvent the wheel by being the first to make the transition.” The report continued: “Their successful transition inspires confidence and provides valuable insights for the other 130 pension funds that will need to follow in the coming years.”

Tinka den Arend, board member at PPF APG, responded enthusiastically to winning the gold award: “I’m proud of the collaboration with our social partners, the accountability body, the Supervisory Board, the board and the APG employees who made the transition possible. And last but not least, I’m thrilled about the engagement of our participants and retirees. Winning this award is the proverbial cherry on top.”

In addition to PPF APG, the pension funds for General Practitioners and Maritime Pilots were also nominated for ‘Pension Fund of the Year.’ The nominees were selected by the jury from the full pool of submissions. PPF
APG was chosen based on 1,100 votes cast by readers of Pensioen Pro, the Financieel Dagblad newspaper, and listeners of BNR.

PPF APG also took home the silver award for Best Pension Fund with Less Than €15 Billion in Assets. This prize was awarded by the professional jury.
